It’s been a hot minute since I have shared a new margarita but I am so excited to have this little segment back for everyone. This month’s margarita is one of my top two favorites (the peach one is right up there with it) the hubby votes that this one is better but I’ll let you be the judge. If you have followed this segment before you know that I like to get creative with my margs and love to keep them clean. This month’s marg is made with watermelon, Trader Joe’s chili lime seasoning, lime juice, la croix and as always silver tequila.
I’m a visual person so here is a little snap of what you want ingredients wise. It doesn’t matter if your watermelon has seeds or not because you will strain the pulp out with one of these guys.
Use a large spoon or ice cream scooper to scoop out 4-5 decent size pieces of watermelon. It doesn’t matter if there are seeds in the scoops, just dish it all into a blender. I personally used our Magic Bullet because it’s easier to wash than the big blender and I am lazy.
Sprinkle Trader Joe’s Chili Lime Seasoning into blender (about 1/2 tsp) and the juice from one lime. Then blend until completely pureed
Use mesh strainer over a bowl to pour watermelon mixture through, this will remove the pulp and seeds. I massaged it lightly to give it more force and push it through quicker.
Wet rim of margarita glass and cover with a mixture of chili lime seasoning and salt. This step may seem silly but it really gives the drink that extra pop of flavor.
Pour watermelon mixture into glass, add a shot (or two!) of your favorite silver tequila and top off with a cold can of lime La Croix. The fizz in the La Croix is amazing and makes this drink extra refreshing. We added ice to ours to have it on the rocks which I recommend, I tried blending ice with the watermelon mixture and it caused everything to separate quickly.
Garnish with a watermelon slice and a lime wedge.
